HOT SUMMER DAYS REQUIRE MORE OF US!

So move at a slower pace and be sure to hydrate!  How much fluid you need each day varies and if you are exerting yourself in this heat....you may need more than 8 glasses. Stay away from caffeine and alcohol (substitute cold herbal teas) on days when you are losing lots of water through sweat.  If you eat a healthy diet that includes juicy vegetables like watermelon, tomatoes, celery & lettuce, you may be able to get 10-20% of your daily fluid intake through your foods.  Every cell and tissue and organ in your body needs water to function correctly.  Your body uses water to lubricate joints, maintain a normal temperature and to remove waste.  Warning signs of dehydration include:  Light headedness/dizzyness, nausea, headache, fatigue, light urination or trouble urinating, dry eyes and mouth, confusion.

Summer and Skin

Article by Martha Calihan, MD

In summertime, we are more aware, perhaps, of our own skin. It’s a good time to reflect on the health of our skin, and to take some steps to improve its overall health.

Did you ever consider all the work that our skin has to do to keep us healthy? It’s the first barrier in our line of defense; the skin serves to keep toxins out of our body and to protect us; the skin is also the site of the synthesis of Vitamin D; what we all know is an essential vitamin for our health.  Likewise, the skin is a great organ of detoxification.  When we sweat, the toxins are removed  through our skin. We need healthy skin to assist in the body’s crucial detoxification processes.

Our skin needs to be well hydrated to be healthy, so it’s important to drink at least eight 8oz glasses of water daily, even more when the weather is hot or we are out in the sun.  Good skin care also involves ....

Our Skin Feels Our Emotions

The Use of Hypnosis for Psoriasis and Eczema

It is important to understand that we don’t always “feel” emotions in the way we may think that we do. At times our efforts to not express or feel emotions can cause the body to express those very emotions in other ways. Often these blocked emotions are manifested via a skin disorder.

Hypnotherapy can be a great help in treating patients with skin disorders like psoriasis and eczema.   (Read about the clinical studies that support this statement by clicking "Read More" below).
